Rail Trails Australia members and supporters are welcome to attend the Annual General Meeting of Rail Trails Australia. It will be held on Friday, 6th November from 6.30 pm at the North Carlton Community Centre, in the former North Carlton Railway Station building in Solly Avenue, North Carlton. This is located on the Inner Circle Rail Trail.
We are pleased to have Garry Long speaking at this year's AGM. Garry is president of the Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail, in northern Victoria. He will give a presentation on the challenges and achievements of the successful Rail Trail.
The Friends of the Bendigo Kilmore Rail Trail was formed in 2009 by local residents who could see the low standard 19km O'Keefe Rail Trail had far more potential. Working with local and state government, in only a few years the O'Keefe Rail Trail is now 50km long and of a much higher standard. A feasibility study is also about to start looking at extending it another 70km. Quite remarkable.
Garry will discuss how the group goes about its work, what they have achieved and the rewards from being involved.
If you would like to attend, we would appreciate a RSVP to the Secretary, Frank Kinnersley to assist in planning for numbers.
