NSW continues the momentum for developing cycling facilities
Lake Macquarie and Newcastle City Councils are showing what can be done when it comes to building great facilities, including rail trails, for cyclists.
They already have the very high quality Fernleigh Track, and the Tramway Track (Glendale to Wallsend Cycleway).
The Newcastle Herald reported that the upgraded shared path alongside Lake Drive in Argenton will go towards connecting the two as well as Lake Macquarie and provide safer cycling along a busy road.
Many projects have been ticked off in recent years and Lake Macquarie City Council is looking again at projects as part of a review of its active transport strategy. This might include trails around the Fernleigh Track. And the excellent Richmond Vale Rail Trail is hopefully not too far away!
