Exciting news that the design and funding has been approved for a new bridge over the Tallangatta Creek on the High Country Rail Trail in north east Victoria.
This is the final watercourse to be bridged on the 81km rail trail between Wodonga and Shelley after decades of work by Parklands Albury/Wodonga, volunteer groups and local councils.
The new 34m long low maintenance bridge is being funded from the Federal Government Black Summer Bushfire Recovery $560,000 Grant and $90,000 from Towong Shire Council.
The former timber railway bridge was constantly snagging trees during floods and was demolished many years ago, necessitating a diversion to get across the creek.
It is planned to have the new bridge open by this Easter.

We are looking forward to riding the trail with its new bridge.
A great, visionary project! It will be completed and operational within the procrastination time of other jurisdictions. Another great reason why we chose an expedition to Victoria to enjoy cycling! We will head down that way in a couple of years for my 80th birthday?
